“Reading is a Gift! @ Your Library

Students, pre-K thr 12th graders can earn $$$$ for Christmas now.  The Pawnee City Public Library is sponsoring a program to help students earn Christmas gifts for their family.  Students can start earning Christmas Cash beginning on September 1st. 

Your student  will need parental permission to participate in this program.  Watch for a registration form, coming home soon with your students.

In order to reach more students, we are coordinating the program with the Pawnee City Public Schools.  Students participating will be awarded Christmas Cash for Accelerted Reader (AR) points they earn at school.  Pawnee City Library participants will earn cash for each book checked out plus if the book is also and AR book, students can earn cash for taking the AR test at school.

The Christmas store will be at the library.  Watch for December shopping hours.

Book Club @ Your Library 

Book Club meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.   Meetings will resume on September 19th at 7:00 pm.  The September book is “The Children’s Blizzard” by David Laskin.  The October book will be “In a Sunburned Country” by Bll Bryson.

Pawnee City Public Library Brick Walk

Bricks are a perfect way to immortalize a family, a family member, or the memory of a family member.  Bricks are $100.00.

 You-Price-It Book Sale to Benefit Library!!!

1st Saturday of each month

10:00 am – Noon

  ==== It’s Simple!  Choose your books from our large selection of sale books.  Decide how much they’re worth to you (please consider 50 cents/paperback and $1.00/hardback).  Make a donation.  Our helpful volunteers will even bag/box them up for you!  As supplies are available we are featuring Westerns, Jigsaw Puzzles, Cookbooks and more!

 Needlecraft Circle

Meets on the first and third Monday, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm at the Library.  Come on in and join with other community members who have an interest in any form of (portable) handcraft or hobby or art that they would like to work on in a comfortable group setting.  Spend a couple hours visiting and sharing.  Help others, who might want to learn new skills, learn how to do new craft.

SE Community College Classes

The catalog and enrollment forms for the 2017 Fall  classes will be available at the Library.  Follow this link for additional information on the website.  Two classes will be held at the Pawnee City Library in October.  Both are on October 7; the first Barn Wood Mason Jar String Art is from 9-11 am and the second Reclaimed Barn Wood Sign is from 11 am – 1 pm.

The “Pawnee City School Annual Collection” is still missing some years!  1921-1923; 1925; 1927-1929; 1933-1938; 1986-1987; 1989; 2003-2004.  If you have an annual from one of these years the Library would appreciate your donation.
